Accountant (Band 5) (VACANT)
Salary Range – $2,190,302 – 2,945,713 per annum and any allowance(s) attached to the post.
JOB SUMMARY
Assists the Finance Manager in developing and maintaining the system of internal controls as it relates to the different areas of responsibility. Liaise with other Agencies of the Ministry and other relevant parties e.g. Banks to ensure transactions are properly recorded. Assist in the preparation of the annual budget.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
- Diploma in Accounting or equivalent
- Knowledge of computer applications as it relates to Accounting Packages, spread sheets and word processing
- At least five (5) years in the Accounting field
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Knowledge of Spreadsheet Application
- Knowledge of Accounting and Accounting Systems, knowledge of SAGE would be an asset
- Knowledge of Accounting Conventions and Standards
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written
- Good time management skills
- Personality and experience to communicate effectively with the management in the company and other related internal and external parties
- Ability to analyze problems, evaluate alternative solutions and make recommendations
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (includes but not limited to)
- Prepares Payment Vouchers prior to approval
- Maintains payable ledger, generate weekly invoice report and make recommendations to Finance Manager for payment
- Check and enter financials on Accounting System
- Ensure that copy of Purchase Order and requisition requests for all clients are attached to invoices
- Prepare and assist with journal vouchers for entry on system
- Assist with the preparation of monthly Financial Statement
- Prepares daily GCT, Contractors Levy and Withholding Tax on Specified Services
- Prepare statutory payments monthly for both payrolls, Monthly, Fortnightly and Board
- Prepare bank reconciliation statements for bank account as specified
- Prepare journal entries for adjustments on bank reconciliation
- Generate job costing report and check for accuracy
- Ensure reconciliation with General Ledger for all payables account across the different jobs
- Analyze all clearing accounts monthly and prepare adjusting Journal Vouchers
- Prepare all audit schedule for areas of responsibility
- Perform any other related duties that may be assigned.
