PROJECT BACKGROUND
Mizpah Primary School was until September 2013, an All Age School situated on the southern outskirts of the district of Walderston, North-East Manchester and located on lands owned by the Moravian Church and operated by the Ministry of Education. The school is located in the region of the Mile Gully Mountain and has been in operation on the present grounds since 1969. Prior to this, it was located on church grounds.
PROJECT COMPONENTS
Excavation for Tank construction – Construct a 20,000 gallon Block and Steel Tank -Install conveyance pipes – galvanized metal guttering -Supply and install solar pumping system -Install water storage tanks – Supply and Install 2 No. 1000 gallon polyethylene black tanks as over-head water storage – Install Chlorination system – Install Filtration system – Install Solar system – Install Fencing around tank
OVERALL AND SPECIFIC PROJECT PURPOSE
To increase the storage capacity for harvested rainwater for both students and staff by 20,000 gallons via a new concrete tank to a total volume of stored water to 28,000 gallons.
PROJECT OUTPUTS
Providing an additional 20,000 imp gallons of rainwater for flushing toilets and ancillary use. Supplying adequate rainwater via improved guttering to full existing storage tanks and additional new storage.
POSSIBLE RISKS/ASSUMPTIONS
Delays in works due to rainfall and not doing certain tasks during school opening hours to prevent accidents that may directly affect students and or staff.
