ENGINEERING SUPERVISOR (Band 8) (VACANT)

Salary Range – $4,266,270 – $5,737,659 per annum and any allowance(s) attached to the post.

JOB SUMMARY

The Engineering Supervisor shall administer the on-site activities of electro-mechanical installations, in addition to the maintenance and repair of existing electro-mechanical systems. Furthermore, he shall ensure that all contractual matters with respect to both quality and quantity of the works are adhered to, also that the works are executed in accordance with the relevant contract documents.

He shall also administer the supervisory staff which is assigned to him by Rural Water Supply Ltd., (RWSL) to ensure, that they perform the functions to which they are assigned directly by him.

He shall ensure that the Contractor faithfully carries out all of his (the Contractor’s) responsibilities, as required by relevant the General Conditions of Contract and the Conditions of Particular Application.

He shall routinely inspect existing electro-mechanical systems to ensure proper operation.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • Bsc. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in a related field
  • Knowledge of solar photovoltaic systems is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

  • Ability to carry out inspections and test, do research and give technical advice
  • Ability to co-ordinate and plan projects in accordance with work schedules
  • Proven knowledge of electrical circuitry; theoretical and practical
  • Practical knowledge of electrical installation standards
  • Knowledge of operation and maintenance of pumping systems
  • Experience working with extra-low and low voltage electrical systems
  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft Word and Excel

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (includes but not limited to)

  1. The Engineering Supervisor shall routinely inspect electro-mechanical systems.
  2. The Engineering Supervisor shall troubleshoot electro-mechanical systems that are not in proper working order.
  3. The Engineering Supervisor shall to the best of his abilities diagnose the causes of various faults with electro-mechanical systems.
  4. The Engineering Supervisor may, if possible, carry out minor repairs to electro-mechanical systems.
  5. He shall report to the Engineer any faults detected in electro-mechanical systems.
  6. He shall assist the Engineer in the drafting of bills of quantities for the repair of electro-mechanical systems.
  7. He shall assist the Engineer in the preparation of estimates for the repair of electro-mechanical systems.
  1. The Engineering Supervisor shall ensure that, the Contractor has obtained a complete set of the signed contract documents before commencing the work.
  2. He shall ensure that, the Contractor has obtained approval from RWSL’s Engineer (Project Manager), of all the necessary insurances before commencing the work.
  3. Perform any other duties that may be assigned.
